In every human heart there is a poem or song yearning to
be expressed. He or she who takes pen in hand and is able
to pluck that verse from the heart and put it into the
written form: that person is called a poet.
Welcome
To My Humble
Home Page!
Howdy! My name is Roy Lee Spinks. I now live in Asbury, a rural
community in Greenbrier County,
West Virginia. I am an amateur radio operator, play the guitar and mandolin and
write songs and poetry. I'm proud of my hillbilly heritage, and am a happy recipient
of that "Amazing Grace".
On the pages
on this website you will find reminiscences, folklore, inspirational
poems, and song poems, novelty and secular poems, short stories, the
folklore of West Virginia and much more
All poetry, song-poems and prose used in these pages (except those accessed by
links to others' websites) are my own original compositions. For permission to
copy any written material on these pages e-mail me at roy1@wron.net.
I'm a senior citizen now, and have written a lot of poems, songs and prose over the years.
Never did earn me a lot of money, but I had a good time doing it. I like to share this
little gift the Lord has given me, so you will see different material on here
from time to time; If you enjoy this sort of thing, come on back and see what comes
next. You're always welcome at the Hillbilly Poet's
website.. And---I would appreciate it if you would sign my
guest book.
